Orsoni gold mosaic is made by placing a sheet of gold leaf between two layers of glass. The bottom layer of glass is thick, the top layer of glass is very thin and serves to protect the gold leaf. The top layer of glass can be transparent or colored. The color of the gold smalti is determined by the color of the gold leaf (expressed in carats) or by providing the top layer of glass with a certain color. The entire process is done manually. Gold mosaic is therefore one of the most expensive materials in mosaic art. But also one of the most beautiful!
Orsoni gold and colored gold are available in the sizes 10 x 10 mm; 20 x 20 mm and 80 x 80 mm.
