Progress making of Ode to Van Gogh
In a few steps i will show you the making of the mosaic Ode to van Gogh. In reality more steps were needed. But these photo’s will give you a good impression of the progress on this work.
I will combine fragments of two of his paintings in the mosaic : a self portrait and Almond Blossom.
I start with the self portrait. I follow Van Goghs’brush strokes with the tessera.
The eyes and nose are getting shape.
The self portrait is done. Time for the Almond Blossom in the background. Half way through !
Where i used small pieces in the portrait, i will use bigger pieces in the background. This way i will be able to create a nice contrast.
The flowers are a grateful subject to create in mosaic.
At the bottom and at the right you see words in gold : they refer to Van Gogh’s 125th year of death in 2015.
