When looking for a person with a colored skin, I met a missionary. He lived on the edge of our village and had worked in Papua New Guinea all his life. He gave me a few personal pictures of the villagers he cared for. The photo of this man was really outstanding, showing his big bright smile and sporting that incredibe plumage headdress. He had made it himself using the feathers from the Birds of Paradise. The colorful beads around his neck complete the image. This work is excecuted in smalti. Observe the teeth; they are all cut as one little piece. The necklaces I made from beads which I found in a little shop in Venice. The oak frame is also made by myself, as is the inlay of the turquoise gold mosaic.
Would you like a mosaic of your favorite singer or a dear one? Please contact me about the possibilities.
