Meandering Snakes is all about movement, color and light. It’s composition incorporates the special materials Orsoni smalt, Orsoni gold mosaic and smalti piastrina. Gold mosaic is gold leaf melted in between two layers of glass. In this work I utilized a kind of gold mosaic which is special because it is colored. Up close, you can see glimmerings of all sorts of colors: blue, green, turquose, orange. These are the pieces of colored smalti that react with the light. It gives movement to the design, making the snakes almost meander. Hence the name of the work. This is an original design.
